Setting and Achieving Goals

Setting goals entails taking the initiative to move toward your intended result. Perhaps becoming a teacher, musician, or physical therapist is your lifelong ambition. These fantasies all entail establishing and achieving modest (and large!) goals. Each of these large objectives can be divided into smaller, more manageable objectives that can help you succeed.

Some tips for goal setting include:

1. Decide when you want to have finished your goal. If you want to do a more difficult task, divide it up into manageable steps and set deadlines for each one. Write down these crucial dates in your calendar or electronic planner.

2. Work on your mindset. Long before you take on your first objective, you can start to work on your thinking. Develop a "glass half full" mentality in all areas of your life, including how you think about achieving your objectives.

3. Start by taking the first step, no matter how small. Avoiding procrastination is crucial. Many objectives frequently fail to materialize when genuine action is necessary. You don't have to hold off until everything is perfect. Start right away and make changes as you go. Take the initial step. You'll never start if you wait for the ideal time when all the stars are aligned.

4. Reward Yourself. Rewarding yourself for reaching your goal is crucial when you've succeeded. Consider your past successes as you bask in the fulfillment that success gives. This will teach the subconscious mind to concentrate on actions that result in success. After enjoying your prize, establish your next objective, making it bigger and more difficult than the last one.

Work on creating SMART goals:

Specific: Goals that are precise and highly comprehensive about what you intend to achieve (use who, what, where, how, etc.)

Measurable: How will you measure and assess whether your goal has been attained?

Attainable: Make sure your objectives are within your reach and are attainable. Attainable goals are those that you can achieve through your own perseverance and hard effort.

Relevant: How do your goals and objectives fit together?

Time-based: Choose 1 or more target dates as the "by-whens" that will help you complete your goal successfully and on time (include deadlines, frequency, and dates)

Goal setting is easy, but it does take effort and application; good luck!
