Time is a thief. Especially in high school, time seems to be stealing all the potential available, and the results could be astronomical. Deadlines and due dates take up too much or too little of our brain space in the wrong instances, and it leads to situations that could have been easily handled. Time leads to stress. High school demands time and is an experience that sets you up for the rest of your career. Managing time is the only way to reduce this effect and allow yourself to live up to your full potential in high school. Firstly, to manage time effectively, administer a time audit. This means fully grasping how much time you need and how much time you spend on day-day activities and high school priorities. Allow yourself to understand what changes you need to make on a daily to allow for all tasks to be completed with quality. This also plays hand in hand with creating a schedule. Using a planner or journey to map out your day, week, and even month will set you up to do exactly whatever your priorities are. Often, it's not laziness that restricts our time, but forgetfulness and sheer absent-mindedness. Something to also keep in mind is that not everything can be done in one day, so make sure to delegate and prioritize needs is a necessity. In addition, setting time limits to further specify how you are delegating time is critical for your mind to know exactly what to do and when. Adding this aspect to your schedule will allow for a clearer view of how and when you will spend your time. For example, if you have to study for a math test, history exam, and Spanish quiz, make sure to map out specific time allotted for each subject based on which you are least and most confident in. This way you will manage your time most efficiently for the most beneficial results. Another way to manage time most effectively is to eliminate all distractions when you are trying to be productive. Eliminating distractions will be one of the most effective aspects of managing time as you are using your time wisely, not wasting it and then later regretting it. It will allow you to focus on exactly what you have to do and allow you to get it done in the most time-saving, efficient manner. However, although being productive and efficient is beneficial, making sure to take breaks will reduce later burnout. If you are only focusing on work, eventually it will catch up with you and burnout will result. Even taking small breaks will allow your mind to relax and be set free from all the tasks. A way to connect taking breaks and working is to use the Pomodoro Method. The Pomodoro Method entails the idea of setting a specific amount of time for a task (normally 25 minutes) and then taking a break respective to the time spent on the task (normally 5 minutes). To admit, managing time in high school is not easy. It takes discipline and hard work to effectively be able to stick to a schedule and manage your time. However, at the end of the day, it is something that you will be proud of and feel accomplished for. In this way, you will not have regrets about what you could have done when you had the chance. You can fight back and take back what time is known for stealing.
